From humble beginnings...
We take pride in our many achievements over the decades. From humble beginnings during a period where we encountered many obstacles along the way, we finally overcame them all to reach a pinnacle that we could never have envisaged all those years ago.
Celebrating 50 years by hosting an FAI Senior Cup tie in August 2019 for first time ever on our home ground against Waterford FC, was a special occasion and a proud day for the club.
Maynooth once had two clubs playing in Leinster league competitions. The present club was formed from the merger of Maynooth St Mary’s and Ballygoran United. Legend has it that the first meeting took place at Feeney’s milkstand on the Celbridge Road.
In the early days, we were very much a transient club having to move a regular intervals when pitches were not longer available due to housing developments.

Many changes have occurred during that time and we are heavily indebted to all who helped us along the way.
Unfortunately, many former club stalwarts have since passed to their eternal reward but can rest in the knowledge that their past efforts have played a big part in our achievements to date.

Many have represented the club through schoolboy and school girl football through to Senior and onto Over 35’s. Our pitches at Dublin Rd, opposite Tesco, were home to many a triumph and celebration.

Winning the Polikoff Cup in 2014, defeating Liffey Wanderers 1-0 at the Belfield Bowl, was a huge achievement and the springboard for our entry to the Leinster Senior League.

Rockfield, Railpark, Carton Court, the Harbour Field, St. Patrick’s College, Geoghegan’s field, Moyglare Road and the Dublin Road lands opposite the old Maynooth mart (now Tesco)…they all feature in our journey.
The acquisition of land at Rathcoffey Road and the building of our clubhouse marked a new era for the development of the club, with modern facilities including top-class changing rooms, showers, meeting rooms, a shop and four pitches that are the envy of many clubs.

June 2022 saw Maynooth Town FC celebrate a Festival of Football, inviting the Manchester United Legends to play at the club grounds as a fundraiser for the our state of the art Astro Pitch. Denis Irwin, David May, Lee Martin, Wes Brown and Brian McClair lined out against a Maynooth Town XI.

Work on the full-size FIFA Quality Approved astroturf soccer pitch for Maynooth Town FC finished in late 2022. It is a development that has transformed football in the club, from hosting the club Nursery every Friday evening to enabling club training and matches to go ahead when other pitches are called off due to weather.

The collaboration and partnership at senior level with Maynooth University led to promotion to the top flight of the LSL. This 5-year partnership created pathways for our young players to play at the highest level. And who could ever forget Maynooth University Town winning the FAI Intermediate Cup in 2018, defeating Firhouse Clover 4-1 after extra time.
From Feeney’s milk stand to the Aviva Stadium, what a journey
